Foods to Avoid
PLEASE - NO, NO, NO….
* HARD, CRUNCHY, OR STICKY FOODS!
For most situations, common sense will tell you what to avoid. Eating foods that can break or damage wires and brackets may mean you have to wear your braces longer.
*NO GUM!
Gum hinders the sliding mechanics of your wires through your braces. This means your teeth can’t move! No movement…no straight teeth ?. Use breath
strips instead.
*NO POPCORN!
Popcorn is yummy, but the kernels can become lodged beneath your bands and create an infection much like a splinter would. This type of infection may require the removal of your appliance during healing and will stop the progress of your treatment.
